MAY MADNESS ~ Weekend Schedule & Events
Our dance weekend will offer a wonderful combination of dance parties in the big hall of the Clarkdale Memorial Clubhouse, dance workshops (on the very danceable pressed cork floor of the "Men's Lounge"), as well as a variety of workshops for musicians and callers led by our talented staff.
The weekend begins with a kick-off concert with Elixir from 6:00-7:00 at the Clarkdale Park on Main Street. Grab a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic dinner and join in this wonderful local experience with a May Madness band. The concert is being co-sponsored by the Town of Clarkdale and is free to the public. Elixir will be playing at the town gazebo (originally called the bandstand), an historic structure built in 1915, now on the National Register of Historic Places.
Dancing begins at 7:30 Friday night. The May Madness schedule is available here...
be sure to bring it along with you when you come. We will have large laminated versions of our schedule posted around the venue, but you'll need to bring your own pocket version with you!
In addition to all the great dancing in the main hall, you can attend a variety of workshops throughout the weekend. Learn to Hambo, or work on your waltz moves... fine tune your own individual musical skills or work on band dynamics.... take part in our traditional Sunday morning Gospel Sing... the options abound!
