MAY MADNESS ~  Lodging

 

Clarkdale's vintage ballroom, clubhouse and park with bandstand are the perfect setting for our dance fiesta. Local dining spots are within walking distance of the hall, but all lodging is a short drive away.  Lodging and camping can be found in Jerome, Cottonwood, Sedona and Camp Verde.
 
JEROME     If you're looking for someplace unique & unforgetable, head ten minutes up the switchbacks to Jerome for unforgetable views in the liveliest ghost town in Arizona. Upscale bed & breakfasts and the historic Grand Hotel are wedged between ruins, kitchy shops and haunted gourmet kitchens. Dancers who enjoyed the Ghost Town Chill Down weekends a few years back remember walking out their doors to spectacular vistas and memorable times in what used to be the biggest mining boomtown in the southwest.  We suggest you look into the Mile High Inn, Ghost City Inn B&B, The Connor Hotel,  as well as the many other charming Bed and Breakfasts and vacation rentals in Jerome!
 

COTTONWOOD    The closest lodging to May Madness is in Cottonwood, just two miles from CLarkdale, which offers rooms to fit anyone's budget. Mom & pop motels, national chains, bed & breakfasts and even a state park are right at hand and the town offers everything from fast food to historic old town bistros & coffee shops. Two motel listings are offering discounts  with early reservation. Both the Little Daisy Motel and The Quality Inn   are offering discounts to May Madness contra dancers; the earlier you make your reservation at the Quality Inn the better, since their discount is based on the current rate (which will only increase as May approaches..).  If you need supplies Cottonwood has everything from big box retailers & drugstores to authentic mexican bakeries and olive oil outlets.
 
Dead Horse State Park   in Cottonwood is literally surrounded by Cottonwood and the Verde River. This park will be beautiful in May,  and offers RV and tent camping along with hot showers. The campsites really are quite nice. Sites may be reserved online.
 
SEDONA & CAMP VERDE      Sedona's timeshares and resorts are twenty miles across the valley in the redrocks while Camp Verde (14 miles back at the freeway exit) has several chain motel offerings.
